Prince Flori sires his first point winner of the season
The German bred stallion, who stands at Knockhouse Stud in Kilkenny, is out of the Group 1 producer Princess Liberte and is by the multiple Group 1 winner Lando.
The sire won seven races during his racing career, including the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden amassing over £490,000 in prize money.
His first point-to-point winner of the season came last Sunday when Highway Prince got off the mark in the five-year-old confined maiden at Curraghmore for John Redmond.
Under the guidance of John O'Neill, the gelding stepped up following a promising fourth place finish on his last outing to defeat the long-time leader, Playlist, by three lengths.
Owned by Sean Kinsella, the gelding is now likely to head for a winners' race.
Prince Flori was close to having sired a winner back in the autumn when the Aidan Fitzgerald-trained Florrie Webb fell at the last when in the lead of the four-year-old geldings maiden at Borris House in December.
An encouraging debut considering the bay gelding was up against more experienced sorts in this race.
