Eleven entered for the Downpatrick Hunters Chase

Downpatrick hosts the Frank Fitzsimmons Memorial Hunters Chase on Friday evening and the 2m7f contest has attracted an entry of 11 horses.

The race is confined to horses that have not won more than one hunters chase, but have been placed in the first four of either a point-to-point or a hunters chases since September 2015.

Recent course and distance winner My Oakclahome heads the entries for David O’Brien and the six-year-old should be well fancied to follow up on his success a fortnight ago.

Nabraska was second in the same contest two weeks ago under Neil Gault and could re-appear again in opposition.

Indeed the first three home in that hunters chase could take part here as Crutches Lad who finished third in the contest for Willie Murphy is also entered.

Hi Murphy has been a very consistent sort for the McParlan’s this season and if the son of Gamut reproduces his recent Cork Hunter Chase form he could have a chance here.

The Richard O’Keeffe – trained Vital Island ran a big race over the banks at Punchestown and could be interesting, while Pyrios comes into the contest in good form having won a maiden at Loughanmore last weekend.
