Colin Bowe takes seventh leading handler title

Colin Bowe has secured his seventh handlers title when proving a runaway winners with tally of 45 winners. His two closest pursuers, Sam Curling and Donnchadh Doyle finished up 13 winners adrift on 32 winners each.

The Kiltealy handler saddled 88 horses to run 205 times between-the-flags. Running at a strike rate of 22% Bowe also saddled 40 seconds and 16 thirds to go with his 45 winners.

With 21 four-year-old winners throughout the season, Colin enjoyed some fantastic results in the sales ring including with Papa Tango Charly selling for £440,000, Ferny Hollow making £300,000, Linelee King yielding £160,000 along with Telmesomethinggirl and It Sure Is both fetching £150,000 at the sales.

Barry O’Neill rode 37 winners for the leading handler with Rob James and James Kenny riding two winners each for the yard.

In total Bowe trained winners at 37 different meetings. In fact numerically this was Colin Bowe’s best season as 45 winners was 11 winners clear of his best previous tally of 34.

With Samcro flying the flag for the many successful graduates of the yard last season, Envoi Allen certainly stepped up to the mark when winning the Champion bumper at Cheltenham in 2019 having broken his maiden for the Bowe academy the previous year.
