UK Point-to-Point Round Up | 1st & 2nd June

Former Irish pointers put in another stellar performance in UK points last weekend. With just three meetings taking place across Saturday and Sunday, Irish graduates accounted for eight of the weekends winners. We take a look at where some of the stand out performers came from in Ireland.  

Saturday, 1st June 2019

Garthorpe

Accord came out on top in the conditions race at Garthorpe for David Bridgewater on Saturday. The son of Arcadio was recording his second success in UK points within a month having also won at Kinston Blount at the end of May. 

Formerly an Irish pointer, this nine-year-old started his career with Johnathon Sweeney in 2010 winning at the third time of asking in the five-year-old geldings' maiden at Borris House. 

Accord subsequently went to his current trainer David Bridgwater in the UK where he ran on the track up until this spring. Owned by Jim Furlong the bay enjoyed success under rules when winning a race in October 2017 and has earned over £10,000 in prize money. 

Trecoed

Falethao D'Ana recorded his first success on his debut in UK points for Catherine Williams. The four-year-old originally started off running in Irish points this spring for Ballindaggin handler Cormac Doyle. The son of Khalkevi ran three times finishing fifth on his last outing at Necarne before being sold for £8,500 in May.

Bratton Down 

The Francesca Moller-trained Dandan secured a four-length victory in the Men's Open on Sunday at Bratton Down. The victory marked the eleven-year-olds third UK point winner of the season from eight runs, leaving him with a very commendable 37% strike rate. 

Back in Ireland, the son of Zagreb started out his racing career with Daniel O'Connell. Getting off the mark at the fifth time of asking in the five-year-old geldings maiden at Boulta before being sold for £15,000 the following month to Hugh Wilson.
