Wexford handler Donnchadh Doyle sent out Deploy The Getaway to triumph in the competitive 12-runner Tinnakill House four-year-old maiden.

The son of Getaway traces back to Special Tiara, was bounced out in front and he gave an exhibition of fencing for James Walsh.

The Monbeg Stables inmate powered clear from three-out and he held an unassailable advantage when blundering at the final fence.

Despite this, the mid-May foal still beat the filly Our Miss Power by 20 lengths. Fourneux D'Isanka meanwhile returned a further 18 lengths adrift in third spot with the trio being the only finishers. "He's a lovely good-looking horse and he has a great cruising speed. Casey Jem, who was still lying third when falling at the last on his career debut in the Ballindenisk maiden won by Rookie Trainer in December, was another to benefit from front running tactics and the triumphant son of Jeremy was challenged by newcomer Kepagge from two-out.

The latter appeared to be coming off second best, some three parts of a length adrift, when falling at the last and the victorious Co Wexford challenger was then left clear to dispose of the only other finisher Gold Bandit by a distance in the hands of Luke Murphy.

"He improved plenty from his first run and the plan now is that he will go to Downpatrick next month for the hunters chase," said 14-horse handler Black, of the James Casey-owned gelding who was his initial winner of the season.

The Old Road Stud & Gain Feeds five and six-year-old mares’ maiden saw Monty's Mission, whom the meeting's landowner Jimmy Mangan trains for Hanford's Chemist Limited, effortlessly justified odd-on favouritism in the hands of Johnny Hurley.

The five-year-old brought the best form to the table considering that she chased home subsequent Ballyvodock winner Theflickeringlight on her previous foray at Aghabullogue last month and she disputed the lead until edging into a narrow advantage four-out.

It was crystal clear that the winning daughter of Artic Cosmos was possessing too many aces for runner-up Delight Of Dubai from two out, 10 lengths the ultimate winning margin.

"She was entitled to do that as she had the form and she will now for a mares' winners of one,” said the handler who also bred the good looking sort.

Dairy-farmer Richard Cotter, who trains just two horses just a mile away from the course in the parish of Ballynoe, struck here with Dubai Quest in The Goulding Family, The John Connery Family, Aglish & BH Tree Services older geldings’ maiden.

The son of Dubai Destination, stepped up from his third-placed debut effort at Kilfeacle a fortnight earlier by mastering long-time leader Cotton Rock as the line approached to oblige by a head under Johnny Barry in what was the closest finish of the afternoon.

"It’s great to win at our local meeting and there should be more to come from him as he's bound to improve," said Cotter, who not only trains the six-year-old but also owns and bred him. 

James Hannon initiated the opening leg of a two-timer by steering Harry Kelly's seasonal debutant Oscar Contender to a resounding all-the-way success in the Rathbarry & Glenview Stud open.

The eight-year-old, a Cork hunter chase victor last term, was another to benefit from pace setting duties and he jumped with aplomb at the head of affairs.

The winning son of Oscar then secured another good leap when needed at the final fence and he bravely kept the closing Arctic Skipper, who had to be rousted along from before four-out, at bay as the line approached to score by three parts of a length.

"We were fancying him coming here and James [Hannon] used his stamina very well. We have been waiting for soft ground for him and the plan now is that he will go for the Tetretema Cup Hunters Chase at Gowran Park next month." said the Tipperary of the gelding, who owned by Mrs Mary Walsh from Carlow.

James Hannon completed his brace by teaming up with owner/trainer/breeder Dr Joe O'Keeffe from nearby Tallow, who was the GP on duty at the meeting, to capture this closing contest with the mare Hiupinthesky.

An ex-track performer, who finished third in a Tramore bumper back in December 2017, the six-year-old came from well off the pace and overtook long-time leader Killwinny King before two-out. With the latter then falling here when beaten in second spot, the victorious daughter of Cloudings was left clear to dismiss Mrs Mcro by a widening 20 lengths.

"She was entitled to do that and she will stay pointing, although we might now also run her in a mares' hunters chase,” said Dr O'Keeffe, who also paid particular tribute to winning rider Hannon.
