Irish Point to Pointers continue their notable run of success as the National Hunt season is now well underway.
These successes followed on from the record-breaking success point-to-pointers enjoyed in October, with 196 former Irish Point-to-point graduates winning a race under rules in the month of November.
The previous record for November was 180 which was achieved back in 2017, but this was surpassed this year by 16 further wins.
The opening day of December was highlighted by two grade one successes from former point-to-point graduates, both winning impressively on home soil at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
Champion Bumper winner Envoi Allen (pictured above) was the first graduate to enjoy his Grade one success, following up on his win at Down Royal when making his hurdling debut just a few weeks earlier, the son of Muhtahir, preserved his unbeaten record when landing the Grade 1 Baroneracing.com Royal Bond Novices’ Hurdle.
Jerry Cosgrove’s Dromahane four-year-old winner Honeysuckle (pictured above) also preserved her unbeaten record over hurdles with success in the Grade 1 Baroneracing.com Hatton´s Grace Hurdle when coming home in front for trainer Henry de Bromhead under Rachael Blackmore.
With two grade one success kicking off the month of December, it looks like pointers could once again continue to break records for the month ahead.
November highlights included:
Grade 1 success for Road to Respect (N. Meade) and Lostintranslation (C.Tizzard).
Grade 2 successes for Ballyoptic (N. Twiston-davies), The World Ends (T George), Barcady’s (W Mullins), Ballyoisin ( E Bolger), Notebook (H De Bromhead), Batteoverdoyen (G Elliott), Chris’s Dream (H De Bromhead) and Danny Whizzbang (H De Bromhead).
Grade 3 success for Daylight Katie (G Elliott), Fury Road (G Elliott) and De Rasher Counter (E Laville) while The Gatechecker was a Grade B winner for Mick Hourigan.
Listed success for Lostintranslation (C Tizzard), Give Me A Cropper (P Nicholls), Alsa Mix (A King), Shattered Love (G Elliott), Golan Fortune (P. W. Middleton), Israel Champ (D. Pipe) and Takingrisks (N Richard’s).
Supported by some smart performing winners such as, Sporting John, Mossy Fen, Andy Dufresne, Éclair Surf, Minella Trump, The Big Getaway and French Dynamite who could all be competing in black type company in the near future.
