Weekend Preview | Ballindenisk 5th January

Race 1 - Tattersalls Ireland 5yo Mares Maiden

This would look to be an open race for the taking, and of those with previous experience, DONT FORGET TO ASK may be the one that takes a step forward. The daughter of Ask has twice finished fourth at Boulta already this season, most recently behind Fresh Appeal, and that experience should stand to her here. Delightfantastic has not been seen since finishing sixth at Rathcannon in April and has changed yards in that time, but she was not beaten far at Turtulla on debut and may get involved here. In a race like this, the newcomers will certainly be worth a market check.

Race 2 - Goffs UK 5yo Geldings Maiden

GETAWAY MILANI was disputing the lead with Do The Floss when coming down at the last on his debut in Borris House before Christmas, and a reproduction of that performance would leave him as the one to beat. The returning Three Nations offered promise in the spring and is entitled to have improved leaving him as a potential danger, alongside the likes of Fabrique En France and Mongol Emperor.

Race 3 - OFarrell Meats & Mary Ryan 6yo Geldings Maiden

ZIHUATANEJO chased home the now 137-rated hurdler Champagne Platinum on his only outing to date at Quakerstown last April and that would leave him as a very interesting prospect in this as he makes his return to action. The Ned Kid chased home Fill The Tank around here last month and has that favourable course form to his name, whilst Dower Caves and Evalabrune Dor are others that should not be too far away.

Race 4 - Kepak Open- Novice Riders

WOUNDED WARRIOR was balloted out of the St Stephens Day Hunter Chase at Down Royal and his connections will be hoping that he can get his head in front for the first time since the 2018 Punchestown Festival in this. The 11-year-old finished fourth in a very competitive open at Kirkistown that was won by Down Royal victor Dylrow, ensuring that now looks to be a notable piece of form. Fennos Storm has been a beaten favourite on his latest two outings, including when third around here behind Macs Legend, who won again on Monday. Bandon Bridge was a further four lengths behind on that run around here last month.

Race 5 - Hurleys SuperValu 6yo Mares Maiden

ACTIVE CURRENCIES comes here fresh having not run since finishing third at Loughanmore on her seasonal re-appearance in October. She was only beaten by little over a length on that occasion, and this could be an ideal opportunity for her to get her head in front. Rathbawn Rose ran well for a long way at Tinahely on what was her first run since having a foal, whilst Honest To Goodness is a regular in these races.

Race 6 - East Cork Oil 7yo Geldings Maiden

The 111-rated hurdler ON CALL has yet to fully take advantage of that in two outings between the flags this term, however he was not disgraced at Tattersalls Farm last time when third to Call It Time and should be able to win a race like this. Baron Du Plessis was third in an Adjacent maiden around here last month before being beaten further at Boulta since, whilst The Bonny Boy would be of interest if bouncing back from a disappointing effort at Loughrea on his seasonal re-appearance.
