Anglers Crag remains unbeaten in Fairyhouse finale
Terence O’Brien completed a good day for Cork-based trainers at Fairyhouse on Tuesday as Anglers Crag took the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF colts and geldings point-to-point bumper.
The four-length winner of his sole outing between the flags when making a winning debut in a five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Ballindenisk in early January, the Derrick Mossop-owned and bred gelding was sent off as the 6/4 favourite for just his second career outing.
Never too far away from the pace, the son of Multiplex led the field by the two-furlong marker as Paul O’Flynn’s recent Rathcannon winner Cregane Ned loomed large as a big threat at this point under the hat-trick seeking Chris O’Donovan.
However as the favourite dug deep responding to Darragh Allen’s efforts, it was Robert Tyner’s debut Curraghmore scorer, Split The Pucket, who came through under Derek O’Connor to offer the stiffest challenge.
Anglers Crag was not for passing and kept finding to pull six lengths clear of Split The Pucket, with a further three lengths back to Cregane Ned.
