Ask DMan tops Clonmel runners in repeat bid for Christie

Having sent out Some Man to win the 2020 edition of the Rathronan Maiden Hunters Chase, David Christie goes in search of a repeat bid, as his Ask D’Man tops a full field of 14 runners for this year’s race.

The seven-year-old is undefeated since joining his Fermanagh yard following impressive successes at both Portrush and Loughbrickland during the autumn, and reigning champion Barry O’Neill will once again be aboard for what will be a first start on the racecourse for the son of Ask that is owned by Jennifer O’Kane.

Eugene O’Sullivan turns out his two horses that contested the recent Hunter Chase at Limerick again, with Super Citizen looking to improve upon his second behind Staker Wallace when partnered by his daughter Maxine who will once again sport the colours of Cheltenham Festival winning owner Alurie O’Sullivan.

The ultra-consistent Templebredin was placed in Hunter Chase company at Fairyhouse in November and he has since added to his haul of successes with victory on his first step into open company when getting the better of O’Sullivan’s Warriors Tale at Boulta. The seven-year-old will be the mount of Pa King.

Thedancingfarrier has matched Templebredin’s tally of two wins during the current season with victories at Dromahane and Mainstown and he will be out to make amends for a mid-race departure at Stradbally before Christmas, a race in which the Hunter Chase debutant Dento Des Obeaux finished second in behind the season’s leading performer High Stakes.

Full declarations for the race can be viewed here.

Due to a Status Yellow weather warning in place for frost and ice, there will be an 8am precautionary inspection at Clonmel tomorrow (Thursday). The ground remains heavy, was fit for racing at 8am this morning and remains so.
