Aloneamongmillions regains Tetretema crown for Curling
Aloneamongmillions came out on top in a battle between the former winners in the 2022 edition of the BoyleSports Tetretema Cup at Gowran on Saturday.
The pair had won each of the last two renewals and they held the first two positions throughout in the extremely testing conditions.
The first fence departure of Macs Legend ensured that what should have been the final fence was omitted on the following two circuits with the cross fence also being bypassed throughout due to the ground conditions which reduced the number of fences by four but that did not hinder the chances of the favourite who jumped well throughout.
Pa King crucially kept him wide throughout for the better ground and despite having to be kept up tp his work by last year’s winner Solomn Grundy, Aloneamongmillions won cosily by a length and a half.
“It was tough conditions and a bit of a muddling race, but he got the job done,” winning trainer Sam Curling told IrishRacing.com.
“He’s a very good horse but has had plenty of problems and hopefully he’ll be in one piece after that.
“He won this race two years ago but got hurt in Naas over 12 months ago and has been given plenty of time. He won well in a point-to-point (at Turtulla) a few weeks ago.
“He’ll probably go to Fairyhouse now for the Joseph O’Reilly.”
