Envoi Allen kept his unbeaten record at Down Royal intact when winning the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase in the hands of Rachael Blackmore.
The eight-year-old showed his ultimate class when pulling away from the last fence to beat Kemboy by a length and three parts with Conflated finishing a further two- and three-quarter lengths back in third.
Envoi Allen who started his career between the flags for handler Colin Bowe has now seven Grade 1 victories to his name.
Robert Power who was representing the winning trainer Henry de Bromhead said: ‘It was a fantastic win, stepping up to three miles we always thought it would suit him.
Rachael gave him an absolute peach of a ride, stuck down the inside. He jumped a bit sluggish early on, but he warmed into it after that. We always thought he would be fastest horse in the race and thankfully he saw out the trip well. ‘
‘This win was a real team effort from all at Knockeen, David Roche rides him out everyday at home and he has done a great job with him. This win really opens up options for us now, so onwards and upwards hopefully.
He has an entry for the King George, so it’s definitely an option for him, we will see how he comes out of his race, he would certainly have the pace for around Kempton. ‘
Envoi back with a bang!
