IHRB Point to Point Stewards Enquiry East Antrim (H) Point to Point Meeting Saturday 04 April 2026

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr R. James, rider of Glebe House, placed first, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of the 4yo Geldings Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the relevant whip regulation.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(g) in that he had used the whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr R. James for 2 Point to Point racedays.

Waterford (F) Point to Point Meeting Sunday 05 April 2026

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr P. W. Gleeson, rider of Tagliatelle, concerning his riding before the last fence where his mount appeared to be fatigued before subsequently refusing the last fence in the 5yo & Upwards Mares Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who apologised for his actions.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 33 (ii)(b) (failure to pull-up a horse that had no more to give). Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr P. W. Gleeson for one Point to Point raceday.

East Antrim (H) Point to Point Meeting Monday 06 April 2026

The Acting Stewards enquired into an incident at the second last bend involving Winged Leader, ridden by Mr B. O’Neill and Clough Clouds, ridden by Mr N. McParlan in the Open Lightweight.  Evidence was heard from both riders.

Mr O’Neill stated things got tight after the second last fence, but he maintained his racing line. Mr McParlan also stated that things got tight between them after the second last fence and his mount received an accidental bump and ducked out at the next turning doll.

Having considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
