Milan rises to second in the Champion Sire table

Masters Voice and Carrig Hill, both handled by county Wexford man Denis Murphy, recorded success last weekend bringing Milan up to second in the Champion Sire leaderboard, just three winners away from the current leader Getaway.

Masters Voice secured success in the Tattersalls Cheltenham five-year-old geldings' maiden at Tralee on Saturday. In the hands of Jamie Codd the bay gelding got off the mark at the second time of asking having been fourth at Bartlemy earlier this month. This €13,500 foal ran out a comprehensive victor here denying Into The Woods by a ten-length margin.

Carrig Hill followed up his stable mates success when taking the winners of one contest at Inchydoney on Sunday. Owned by Eoin Seymour, this  six-year-old has been a consistent sort right throughout the season placing twice and winning twice from five runs.

Milan has also produced numerous other pointers who have gone on to achieve great success on the track including Double Shuffle, Monalee and Sizing Granite.

The former is a four-time winner for Tom George who has earned over £200,000 in prize money. Third on his four-year-old debut at Inch for Virginia Considine back in April 2014, Tom George subsequently purchased Double Shuffle for £50,000 later that month.

Monalee is a Grade 1 winning chaser trained by Henry De Bromhead and owned by Barry Maloney. The eight-year-old was a debut winner in his point back in 2016 for Derek O'Connor and Kevin O'Sullivan.

A fellow Grade 1 winner, Sizing Granite has achieved seven victories on the track including the Grade 1 Maghull Novices Chase at Aintree. In his point-to-point debut the son of Milan showed plenty of promise before unseating when still in contention at Athlacca for Henry De Bromhead in 2012.
