Day two of the Cheltenham Festival sees a further 40 ex-pointers set to line up in the various races throughout the day.
The opening race on the card is the Grade 1 Ballymore Novices' hurdle over two miles and five furlongs, and with a field of 12 in its entirety, nine of these twelve have graduated from the point-to-point circuit.
Envoi Allen won a four-year-old maiden at Ballinaboola in 2018 for Colin Bowe and Barry O'Neill in impressive fashion before changing hands for £400,000 to Gordon Elliott, where he has remained unbeaten in all seven starts so far.
The Big Breakaway was also impressive in his four-year-old maiden at Quakerstown in April of 2019 when handled by Donnchadh Doyle. Following that impressive effort, he changed hands at the Goffs Ireland Punchestown Sale for €360,000.
Also previously handled by Donnchadh Doyle, The Big Getaway was a facile winner of a four-year-old maiden at Horse And Jockey in 2018 when ridden by Harley Dunne. Following that performance, he was snapped up by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins at the 2018 Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale for £230,000.
The remainder of point-to-point graduates in the opening contest of day two are made up by Decor D'Irlandais, Getaway Fred, Longhouse Poet, Mossy Fen, Shan Blue, and Sporting John.
The RSA Novices' Chase sees three ex-pointers among a field of ten runners. Last years Albert Bartlett winner, Minella Indo represents the Henry De Bromhead team. The son of Beat Hollow was a winner of a five-year-old geldings' maiden at Dromahane in 2018 for handler John Nallen and rider Johnny Barry.
The well-regarded Battleoverdoyen (pictured above) is also set to line up in this contest. The son of Doyen won a four-year-old geldings' maiden at Loughanmore for Jerry Cosgrave and Mark O'Hare in 2017 prior to being sold for £235,000 at the 2017 Cheltenham April Sale at Tattersalls Cheltenham.
Slate House, a three-time course winner at Cheltenham took a four-year-old geldings' maiden at Tattersalls Farm in November of 2016, prior to being sold at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale in March 2017 to Tom Malone and Colin Tizzard.
The Grade 3 Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle is the third race on the afternoons card, with a full field of 25 set to line up, with a further seven point-to-point graduates included in that figure along with the two reserves Bold Plan and Everybreathyoutake, who are both ex-pointers also.
Alfa Mix was recently bought by J.P McManus, and remains in training with Gavin Cromwell. The son of Fair Mix was still very much in touch when falling in a four-year-old maiden at Ballinaboola in 2017 for handler Matthew Flynn O'Connor and rider Harley Dunne.
Ballymoy, Birchdale, Champagne Well, Golan Fortune, Burrows Edge and Fagan make up the other ex-pointers in the contest.
In a now field of six following the removal of Altior, Bun Doran represents the Tom George stable in the Grade 1 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.
A course winner at the November meeting at the November meeting previously, the son of Shantou won a four-year-old geldings maiden at Necarne in May 2015 for his handler Mick Goff and rider Shane Fitzgerald, before joining the Tom George team.
The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, sees a field of sixteen runners set to line up, with five point-to-point graduates included in that figure, made up by Josies Orders, Outlander, Out Sam, and Sumkindofking all set to line up.
The final race on Wednesday afternoon, the Grade 1 Weatherbys Champion Bumper which sees 15 point-to-point graduates in a total field of 23.
Willie Mullins has won this contest previously with the likes of Relegate, Briar Hill and Champagne Fever. The Co. Carlow trainer has a strong hand going into this year's renewal.
Appreciate It won a four-year-old maiden in Dromahane for Pat Doyle and Derek O'Connor, whilst Ferny Hollow won a four-year-old maiden at Knockanard.
Queens Brook looks to be the best of the Gordon Elliott pair, who won a four-year-old mares' maiden at Dromahane in 2019 for Aidan 'Scobie' Fitzgerald and Richie Deegan before being sold for £160,000.
The remaining point-to-point graduates consist of Adrimel, Ask A Honey Bee, Brief Amnition, Esky Lane, Israel Champ, Julies Stowaway, Linelee King, Mahler Allstar, One True King, Snowpiercer, Darling Daughter, and The Glancing Queen.
