Bowe had assembled biggest team to date for 19.20 campaign

Colin Bowe’s successes in recent seasons have been well publicised – three of his exports enjoyed success at the Cheltenham Festival in March, he topped the handler’s leader board for an eighth time and the 2019-20 season was set to become his biggest to date.

This season’s hunter certificate figures show that he took out a hunter certificate for a total of 110 as he remains the only handler to have reached three-digit figures.

Those 110 certs are the largest to date for the Milestone Stables operator and it represents a rise of almost 30% in the past five seasons, as Bowe looks to maximise the rewards from his recent successes.

With Donnchadh Doyle’s certs dropping by a quarter since last year, Denis Murphy took out the second largest number of certificates, with 75, and Doyle dropping to 67.

Sam Curling, who was responsible for some of last season’s most prolific open performers, such as Longhouse Music and Some Are Lucky, took out 52 hunter certificates, with Aidan Fitzgerald responsible for 48 hunter certificates this season.

With Sean Doyle, Ellen Doyle and Mick Goff all featuring in the top ten largest handlers, Wexford is well represented and accounts for over half of the top ten.
