Another win for Boss Robin

The John Gleeson trained Boss Robin was recording his third consecutive win when landing the Joseph O’Reilly memorial at Fairyhouse in the hands of Ray Barron.

The eight-year-old who raced in behind the favourite Ferns Lock for most, took up the running four fences from home.

The pair kept on gamely in the testing conditions to deny the 2/7f Ferns Lock by seven and a half lengths.

An elated John Gleeson told RacingTV afterwards: ‘That was unbelievable, to have a horse like him is just great.  I wouldn’t usually have this type of a horse as they are usually sold on so I’m very lucky to have him.

We were giving him a chance today especially with the favourite having run at Cheltenham, he is a tough sort and has been working well at home.

We had decided we weren’t going to let the favourite get his own way, and we were pestering him and thankfully it all worked out.

He is in again on Monday, but we will hardly make it back home by then! Ah we left him in Cork just in case something didn’t go according to plan.  If the ground comes up soft at Punchestown, he will go there.

I am delighted for the Archdeacon family who have been long family friends of ours, we go way from point-to-pointing and selling half-breds over the years.  It’s brilliant, we will do some celebrating on the back of this win.'
