Having made his debut at Kilfeacle in January 2013 on horse's trained by his father David, Derek McGrath got off the mark aboard his families October Revolution at Ballindenisk in May 2014. That Turtle Island gelding provided him with his opening five winners, as the pair went from maiden company, up through winners' grade all the way to victory at open level.
