Few riders will win a title in their first season in the saddle, but that is a feat achieved by Liam Quinlan, as following his debut victory aboard Dimple at Ballinaboola in November  2017, he added a further 11 successes to share the Champion Novice title with Shane Fitzgerald by the season's end. Track successes at Leopardstown Christmas Festival, in the Amateur National at Punchestown, and across the Irish Sea in Kelso in front of the ITV Racing cameras followed before he joined the professional ranks in 2019.
