Cormac Abernethy had his first point-to-point ride abroad Infrontofthejudge for trainer James Lambe at Tyrella in Janurary 2017, and he would partner Infrontofthejudge a further eight-times in that season, including a number of placed finishes. A first success came inside the rails at Down Royal when Stansfield won a Chase in February 2021, with his initial victory in the pointing sphere coming later that year when Colin McKeever's Ballyblack won at Loughanmore in October 2021. The Antrim venue also provided him with a first career double in April 2022, a feat he repeated the following month in Broughshane. In March 2024, Abernethy sent out his first runners as a handler, when taking over as Wilson Dennison's trainer at his Loughanmore stables.
