Having gained early experience on the pony racing circuit, Jordan Gainford made his point-to-point debut when finishing second in a four-year-old mares' maiden at Boulta in December 2018 for Colin Bowe. The champion handler was among a number of leading handlers to put up the Wexford native on their young horses in his debut season, with a first success coming for Paul Pierce aboard Airgead Suas at Oldcastle in April 2019, whilst his first winner under rules followed five months later, when Bowe's Cushinstown Finest won a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick. In February 2021, Gainford turned professional.
