IHRB Point to Point Stewards Enquiry East Down (F) Point to Point Meeting Saturday 25th January 2025

The Acting Stewards enquired into possible interference between the last fence and the winning post involving Milan Forth, ridden by Mr K.P. Healy, placed second, and Dento Des Obeaux (FR), ridden by Mr D.J. Hanlon, placed third in the Open Lightweight

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that Milan Forth had caused interference to Dento Des Obeaux (FR) and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position.

As a consequence, the Acting Stewards reversed the placings of the second and third placed horses and amended the result to read as follows:

First: Carnfunnock

Second: Dento Des Obeaux (FR)

Third: Milan Forth

Fourth: Vina Ardanza

Furthermore, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. K.P. Healy was in breach of Regulation 32 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for 1 Point to Point raceday.

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr. D.J. Hanlon, rider of Western Wishes, placed fourth, in the Winner Of Three, following a report from the Clerk of Scales that he had failed to weigh in.

Evidence was heard from the Clerk of the Scales and the rider who admitted that he had failed to weigh in. Having considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards found the rider in breach of Regulation 44 (iii) (failure to weigh in), and having taken Mr. Hanlon’s previous record into consideration, fined him €150.

Furthermore, the Acting Stewards disqualified Western Wishes from fourth place. The amended result now reads: -

First: Yewtree Hill

Second: Bold Fury

Third: Last Round

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(b) in that he had used his whip unnecessarily after his mounts chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr J.P. Leddin for one Point to Point raceday.

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr M.J. O’Connor, rider of Sampoet, placed fifth, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the Winner Of One.
